Root Canal Therapy
In this example, the red spot indicates an exposed pulp, after decay removal
A root canal is done when the pulp, or nerve, is damaged. In this case, a deep cavity has invaded the pulp.
The decay is removed, and then the pulp tissue is cleaned out. This is comfortably done with a local anesthetic.
The canal space(s) are sealed with a rubbery material to prevent infection.
